Here's where random stuff goes that for some reason I didn't put on the front page.
- Collection of pictures from my hiking and such around the area.
- Another collection of even more pictures from hiking. These ones are for the most part better quality, I think. Slightly.
- M&E You really don't want to see this, but some always ask, and persist to insist, my warnings futilely falling on willfully deaf ears. Whether or not you know who you are, you've now been warned.
- Some personal reviews of camping/survival equipment reviews based on my own experiences with various stuff.
- Raw text file full of collected quotes (de rigeur for any personal webpage, of course :-)
- A random odd thought I had. More of an instantaneous visual, which I then sort of painted out in words. No, not poetry, just some rambling. See the disclaimer about that subject on the next item
- A single pathetic poem. There might be more later, but I don't seem very prolific, at least not prolific at anything decent. There is already way too much drivel all over the internet claiming to be "poetry", but has not rhyme nor meter, being apparently just a poor excuse to write random streams of incoherence with unintelligible syntax, and illogical or no punctuation or capitalization. The point being that I'm going to (try :-) not to expand that sorry state of things. This one is passable, I guess.
Wallpapers
- A butterfly Found this poor critter plastered in my radiator on my car. Scanned it, semi-randomly messed with some settings in the image editor, and voila! : beauty arises anew from a grisly, baking, high speed, gasoline powered, roaring steel impact death!. (236Kb) Note: image scanned and manipulated entirely in IrfanView, a free, fast and light yet powerful image viewer and basic processor for Windows, but which seems to run fairly happily in WINE under Linux as well.
- A winter scene This was scanned from somewhere a few years ago. If anyone knows who took the original picture, that would be cool. (235 KB) Yep, big. Maybe I'll put up a thumbnail someday.
- Lake Superior stones.(1024x768 wallpaper-sized; 151 Kb )
- More rocks. Well, actually, the SAME rocks, but different look. (Same old rocks you know and love-- EXCITING new look, same GREAT price!) 125Kb
- Winter-bleached Beech leaves. Picked in later winter from the trees on which they still managed to hang. From my last snowshoeing trip March 2001. Snow left too early this year :-( 106Kb
- Same leaves. Less relief and dimensional shading, but more details and overall image consistency. 128Kb
- Autumn: fur and leaves Don't worry, I ate the rest of it. :-D PETA members may Complain here
- Northern Ruffed Grouse feathers finagled a bit in GIMP. 640x480 has enough detail to stretch gracefully to at least 1024x768, or will also seamlessly tile.
- Comics available online. This is also linked on the browser startpage/links page. My favorite comics are also there, and some don't appear on the full listing.
- Possibly things to come yet are some things about snowshoeing. There's other things I like, but there's enough sites about, for instance, Linux on the internet already.
- Oh, what the hell, Here's a Tux icon for Windows. Make a shortcut to LOADLIN and put this on it
