A somewhat notably-sized Eastern Hemlock tree. It's not like a record or anything. I may have seen bigger, but it is fairly respectable. I took this picture with the intent of making some sort of record of it, mistakenly thinking at the time that the area was going to be logged the following year.

I somehow managed to be clever enough to get a silver-gray stick lined up with the stainless steel barrel of the Ruger 10/22 which I propped in front of the tree for some sense of scale. As a result, the rifle doesn't show as well as it might. The tree is probably just over 5 feet in diameter near the base, about where the rifle is.
